Trinity’s building is of a 1950’s modernist style – very square and angular – but we do have some more traditional features, namely our two stained glass windows.
Above the communion table, on the east end of the sanctuary, Jesus is portrayed holding the cup and is surrounded by curling vines and the grapes that make the wine.
The words at the base of the window read: “This cup is the New Testament in my blood which is shed for you.” Here the word testament is used and it means covenant or promise. That promise is the forgiveness of our sins.
At the west of the building above the balcony is the other stained glass window.
The acronym INRI shown above Jesus’ head stands for the Latin inscription (Iēsus Nazarēnus, Rēx Iūdaeōrum). During the crucifixion of Jesus, it was written there in three languages: Hebrew, Latin and Greek (see John 19:20). The English translation of INRI would be “Jesus, the Nazarene, King of the Jews”.
