Praise Him with Hammer and String
14th April, 2013
Holy Communion 10:30 am
Join with us to celebrate our newly acquired grand piano as we dedicate the instrument to the glory of God. In celebration we start using a new contemporary feeling liturgy setting eight.
Dedication of the Grand Piano
L: Praise the Lord!
R: Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament!
L: Praise him for his mighty deeds;
R: praise him according to his surpassing greatness!
L: Praise him with trumpet sound and with lute and harp!
R: praise him with hammer and strings!
L: Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
R: Praise the Lord!
(Slightly adapted Psalm 150)
L: Eternal and creative God, creator of all, we give you thanks for this day, we praise you for the freedom we enjoy to worship you. With joyful hearts, we turn to you. Accept our dedication of this grand piano with its grand softness and its grand loudness (Pianoforte). Let each note be a prayer vibrating with life and love as we worship and praise your Holy name. O Lord our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen
With our dedication hymn Morning Has Broken,
- I invite Ross to play an instrumental verse to praise God with hammer and string.
- Then the Piano Committee members will sing as the piano sounds for the lifting up and support of soloists and small groups in the giving of their praise.
- In verse 2 our choir will join the singing as their anthem of praise
- And then I will invite everyone to stand as their are able, and to join the singing in verse 3 as our new grand piano plays to leading the whole congregation in our song of worship and praise.
L: For you, O LORD, have made us glad by your work;
R: at the works of your hands we play and sing for joy. (Ps. 92)
