Summer 2018 – Pastor’s Message

In my summer message in the Trinity Times, I mentioned a few things that I hoped to get to this summer – I didn’t go camping or do much bike riding or get to a Quaker worship service, but I did get to celebrate at our Vacation Bible School with a cool band and play my new electric guitar (just like the one I had when I was a teenager), and I got to be part of the Association of Liberian Lutherans in the Americas  (ALLIA) conference and sing with the Inshallah – London Choir at the concert on Saturday 25th August.  What evening we had – full of joy and life.

I was very pleased that Trinity was able and willing to host these faith filled Lutherans and give them a big Canadian welcome.  So many of our Liberians visitors told me how very grateful they were for Trinity’s hospitality as we hosted their conference here.  The Sunday worship on 26th August was powerful, lively and spirit filled as we celebrated with all ALLIA visitors and two Lutheran bishops.

So it was a full summer of good church work and ministry.  Our VBS was a great success with 50 kids registered and again a significant majority were not from our local Lutheran congregations.  This is good ministry to the community.  As our outreach project we collected 37 backpacks for the moms and children at ANOVA (women and family shelter) on Wellington Street.  Visit our VBS page for more photos.

A final joy I would like to share with you from this summer. I am excited to be able to encourage Janelle Lightborne as she starts her seminary training this fall – what a gift she is going to be to our Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.  Join us on Education Sunday 25th September, to hear more about her journey and the new name for the Waterloo Lutheran Seminary  … come and hear.

Go with God and with Christ in your heart.
