REFORMATION SERVICE LSSL Come! Reach out to others. Bring someone you know, a friend, a neighbour, a fellow-member of the congregation. We are going to make this a super celebration for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Unless you are there and try to share your joy with others, all the preparations in the world will fall flat. Martin Luther was one man standing alone against so much opposition to his understanding of how God reached out in Jesus Christ to bring salvation to the world. But people listened to him, heard the message, and responded joyfully to God’s love for them. For 500 years the Lutheran Church, around the world, has continued to bring Christ to the nations. We are inviting the six Lutheran Churches in London, plus many other denominations to join us for this exciting afternoon of celebration. We hope to have 1,000 in attendance.
Reformation 500 is being held at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 472 Richmond Street on Sunday 22 October from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. There is so much planned. Dr. Christine Helmer, from Northwestern in Chicago, a world-renown Luther scholar and author, will be our guest speaker. The Amabile Youth Singers along with the Prima Chorus will help to lead the singing of hymns of the Reformation period as well as those that focus on Luther’s four “sola(s)”. Musical accompaniment will be provided by the Reverb Brass (from Toronto) as well as our superb organist Angus Sinclair. Of course, you’re wondering about how much this is going to cost. It is absolutely FREE–and, so is the parking that is being provided at London Life parking lot. We just want to pack the church, with you and you and you. We want you to be part of the celebration because we can’t wait another 500 years to do this. Lutheran Social Services (London) is sponsoring the whole event. The Lord has truly blessed our Foundation and we want to share those blessings with you and the whole City (and beyond) of London. You will probably see this offered in newspapers, weekend publications and for the two weeks of October 1 and 15 we are sponsoring the Lutheran Hour to have it announced on that program. We are getting the word out and we would really appreciate if you could help us do that… one-on-one.
Thank you!
