Confirmation

But now, this is what the Lord says – he who created you, Jacob, he who formed youIsrael: “Do not fearfor I have redeemed youI have summoned you by name; you are mine.
Isaiah 43:1

Confirmation is an opportunity for people to affirm the promises their parents, sponsors and congregation made for them at their baptism. Also known as the affirmation of baptism, confirmands promise “…to live among God’s faithful people, to hear His Word and share in His supper, to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, to serve all people, following the example of our Lord Jesus, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.” Confirmation prepares people to confidently make those promises, affirm their baptisms and continue to live out their faith in the church.

At Trinity, along with our ELCIC London partners at Redeemer and St. Ansgar Lutheran Churches, our own curriculum has been developed, which consists of two years of instruction:

  • one year studying the Bible
  • one year in faith formation
  • one week confirmation camp for the 1st year students, focusing on Lutheran identity

Confirmation usually begins when a youth is entering Grade 7, but a person of any age can be confirmed.
