Communion Bread

This recipe makes unleavened bread and breaks easily without too many crumbs.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white flour (or use barley flour is you want a more scriptural touch)
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons Crisco shortening (or margarine)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • Sift together, cut in Crisco, add honey and enough water to make a workable dough and roll into a ball
  • roll out 1/2 inch thick on floured board (makes two round breads about 6″ diameter)
  • score lightly with knife for ease of breaking
  • place on grease baking sheet bake at 350 F for 15-20 minutes
