Black History Month | February

February marks Black History Month in Canada and the United States. The month gives us a time to celebrate and honour the achievements and contributions to our countries and communities from those of African descent. In an effort to reflect what is happening in our neighbourhoods, Trinity and Redeemer will use our outdoor signs during this month for partial quotations from African Americans and African Canadians (we only have so much space!).  The fuller quotations are in our Sunday morning bulletins and listed below:

  • Desmond Tutu
“My humanity is bound up in yours… for we can only be human together.”
  •  Maya Angelou
    “Love recognizes no barriers…it
jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope”
  • A. Philip Randolph
“Freedom is never given; it is won.”
  • Frederick Douglas
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress.”
